Scholarships – Awards
The
University of Crete offers a limited number of scholarships and bequests for selected undergraduate and
postgraduate subject areas.
In
addition, apart from national grant sources in your country of origin, there
are various sources of grants and scholarships for students
wishing to study in Greece. These include:
The Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) is currently the principle funding
institution for scholarships and grants for PhD candidates and for
post-doctoral researchers, with regular annual calls applying to all subject
areas.
The State
Scholarship Foundation (IKY) also
offers scholarships for postgraduate and post-doctoral research.
There are also scholarships offered for Greek Language courses.
The Ministry of Education site lists (in Greek) scholarships and
bequests with specific eligibility criteria
for selected undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Greek
Universities or research in a Greek research institute, as well as for summer
seminars in Greek Language and Civilization.
There are
also a number of Foundations which offer scholarships to foreign nationals for
study in Greece. Significant among these are the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation (Foreigners
Fellowship Programme) and the A.G. Leventis
Foundation [Educational Grants Scheme].
The
official Study in Greece portal has some guidelines on how to go
about finding the right scholarship for you, and the documents you will
need.
