students in 1999.

Unlike other Political Science divisions in Greek Universities, the department was established and developed with the aim of pursuing political science as an academic discipline independent of constitutional and public law.

The Department’s study programme offers systematic exploration of particular academic fields within the discipline: political philosophy and political theory, public policy, comparative and European politics, political sociology, and international relations.  This is combined with the acquisition of personal and transferable skills (including training in foreign languages, IT skills, qualitative and quantitative methods).

The Department’s two research centres promote research and research training in comparative politics and public policy, in human rights, and in democratic forms of governance.
