2nd International EAP/ESP Conference “Options, Practices and Possibilities of EAP and ESP Practitioners” at the University of Crete
On 20-23 September 2019, the English for Specific Academic Purposes(ESAP) instructors of the School of Science and Engineerings and the Medical School at the University of Crete, hosted the 2nd International EAP/ESP Conference “Options, Practices and Possibilities of EAP and ESP Practitioners”.
The aim of the conference was the dissemination of methodologies and best practices in the fields of English for Specific Academic purposes (ESAP) research, instructional practices and pedagogy. Ultimately, the objective is torefine and optimise the core body of knowledge and the related pedagogical approaches of practitioners across domestic and international universities.
The program was implemented under the auspices of “Erasmus Staff Training Week” by Erasmus+ 2019 in conjunction with the Public Relations Division at University of Crete, Heraklion.
We would really like to thank all our delegates for their active participation, thought-provoking presentations and contributions!
We would also like tothank our EAPCRETE team and our EAPCRETE 2019 chair Kiki Divini for theirtire less efforts, support and time towards this very successful event.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank our 2019 Keynotespeakers, Dr. Lisa McGrath and Dr. Ruth Breeze who had a strongr apport with the audience and delivered engaging keynote speecheswith clear connections between EAP/ESP theory and practice.
The 2nd EAP Crete conference themes covered EAP and ESP practices andresearch such as academic literacies, genre pedagogies, critical thinking andmetacognition. There was a great variety of training opportunities includingan EAP Technology workshop, a Content-Based Instruction workshop, Materials design and Creativity in EAP.
We now look forward to our 3rd EAPCRETE conference next year on 17-20September 2020 #eapcrete
